Wearing Sunglasses in Winter?

Are you still wearing your summer shades as the weather gets colder? Perhaps you should give some thought to investing in a pair of decent winter sunglasses.

Why do I need another pair of sunglasses I hear you cry? Well, the answer is pretty simple. The way your summer sunglasses are styled and constructed makes them very different to those designed for winter. Typically, summer sunglasses have much darker lenses whereas their winter counterparts have lighter tinted lenses. The reason for this is because the lighting is very different in winter therefore you need a pair of sunglasses that are equipped to deal with it.

When choosing which lighter lenses are right for you, it is important to weigh up the various options. Grey lenses are superb on a bright sunny day, whereas brown, amber, or pink lenses can improve contrast and help with depth perception too. This in turn helps to reduce glare. If you are looking for an all rounder then these are by far your best bet as they perform well in various weather conditions.

You may also want to invest in a pair that is very close fitting. This will help minimise any harmful rays or sun glare getting to your eyes. This will also help with reflected light from the snow (should you be lucky enough to get any).

Remember, it is just as important to keep your sunglasses with you, even during the winter months. You may not see the sun anywhere near as much but the UV rays produced on those sunny days are equally as bad for your eyes.

Winter Sports

Going skiing or snowboarding? Then you’ll need a pair of goggles. Why not choose a pair of Oakley goggles, after all when it comes to quality and a brand name you can trust, Oakley certainly fits the bill. Available in a range of colours, Oakley goggles will make sure that your eyes stay protected while out in the snow.

Madonna wearing MDG sunglasses from Dolce & Gabanna

In a departure from our usual celebrity sunglasses posts, today we bring you some more about the new MDG sunglasses from Madonna and D&G.

In a press release Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana stated that;

“Designing an eyewear line with Madonna was a new experience for us. The oversized and wraparound designs are sexy and very feminine, like our clothes. Madonna’s creative contribution and unique point of view were key, even in designing the MDG logo”

Madonna herself, is the face of the MDG ad campaign which has been shot in New York by Steven Klein. In the campaign, Madonna is portrayed as a mysterious, sensual star of a film noir who is caught on camera with a somewhat intriguing man.

To help give a more a cinematographic feel, the whole campaign has been shot using a video camera. This allows both the film and the photographs to be reminiscent of a short film or an old-fashioned movie.

“The voyeuristic images metaphorically evoke the essence of a star such as Madonna: admired, spied, adored, pursued and desired, but never fully revealed, shrouded as she is in dark glasses and mystery.”

Sunglasses Direct has these new Madonna sunglasses in stock right now so why not get your hands on a pair without delay. Buy them on the website.
