Wayfarer Classic design Ray Ban was launched in 1952, but still is the most popular Ray Ban design 57 years later. The Ray-Ban Wayfarer was designed by sunglass designer Raymond Stegeman who was chief eyewear designer for Bausch & Lomb the company that produced ray ban sunglasses. originally aimed at the male market, especially pilots, the wayfarer became iconic with famous stars like hollywood movie actors and actresses. Now the Ray-Ban Wayfarer has been seen in over 100 films and sales almost top 300,000 a year.
The ray-ban wayfarer was relaunched in 2006 and re-named RB 2140 and there are now several different designs of wayfarers, such as RB 2132 , RB 2151 and the two toned option RB 2143 worn by Liam Gallagher in the BBC proms. Ray-Ban Wayfarer RB 2140 will again be the sunglass to wear for summer 2009.
