Oakley Radar gets the switchlock treatment

Oakley Radarlock offers the utmost sports performance sunglasses, allowing sportsmen take full benefit of Oakley’s vast choice of active lenses, with the help of switchlock technology  designed by Oakley to change the lenses in the sunglasses in a fast matter.  Switchlock gives the uninterrupted vision available in the existing Radar model, but with the simply lens exchange also recently launched in the Fast Jacket and Oakley Racing Jacket.

The switchlock technology on the Radarlock is a small switch behind the open hinge of the sunglass frame.  Once pressed the lens easily can be removed from the main structure of the sunglasses and bridge area.  Reinserting the lens is also just as effortless, by placing the lens back into the mount of the frame, then clicking the switch back into place securing the lens safely.

Oakley Radarlock is manufactured from lightweight and sturdy O matter material.  The shape of the frame is designed with surge holes to improve air movement around the sunglasses to prevent internal fogging.  The earsocks are produced from Oakley’s amazing unobtainium grip rubber, which allows non-slip wear.

All Oakley Radarlocks come with soft vault cases, accompanied with extra lens storage for 2 pairs of lenses.

Sunglasses-direct now have the new Radarlock in stock in different lens colour options and lens choices.

RayBan Aviator celebrates three quarters of a century

Ray Ban Aviator celebrates 75 years this year, becoming the most worn, photographed and prolific selling sunglasses ever.  It’s history began in 1937, when Bausch and Lomb registered a patent to produce the glare caused by the suns rays.  The American Air Force soon after took on the Aviator as its sunglasses of choice for their pilots, mainly due to the excellent anti-glare properties, but also for its double bridge bar design, which very helpfully acts as a cigarette holder while the pilot concentrated on flight.

History also includes the Aviator being worn in world war II, with General Douglas MacArther being photographed in a pair while arriving on a beach in the Philippines.  The iconic RayBan design became number one status after featuring in the film Top Gun with Tom Cruise appearing in Aviators throughout the film.

The influential level in which these sunglasses have had on the music and celebrity world is astonishing, with every magazine, newspaper and fashion blog featuring them being worn.

In 1999 Bausch  and Lomb, the original manufactures of the Ray-Ban Aviator, sold the ownership of the brand to Luxottica, Italy.  This massive optical producer has carried on the tradition of the original Aviator style, making ultimate retro cool.

Sunglasses-direct now has the aviator for sale as the new model RB 3025, available in 25 colours and lens tint options

Red Bull Racing Sunglasses worldwide launch 2012

Red Bull Racing Sunglasses have been launched to the world like unveiling of a racing car at the beginning of a F1 season. The ambassadors for the sunglasses range are the teams very own Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber who race for the Red Bull team and have both won F1 championships over the past few years.

The styles are very akin to the design and engineering that goes with formula one racing, introducing carbon fibre, stainless steel, TR90 grilamid and other high tech materials which produce lightweight well fitting sunglasses that can be worn for sport. The lenses are high impact shatterproof lenses, excellent for sporting uses to give full UV protection.

The carbon fibre models use the same layers of carbon fibre that the chassis of the racing cars are produced from. This gives high tensile strength, but allows the sunglasses to be comfortable to wear.
